Nina Simone and Other Sisters of the 50s -- The Essential Collection

New Music Monday,

Surprise! There was a release 7/10/2011 of "Nina Simone and Other Sisters of the 50s . . . The Essential Collection" --

How do they manage to do that? Who is receiving the royalties for this re-release? I have all these Ninas already, but I guess it would be important if you had none of them. $11.99 for a 3-CD set. If the recording is half-good, this is the deal of the century. You know I love Nina Simone, and cannot not pass up the opportunity to have her picture here on In-Box Jewels whenever the opportunity arises.

The tracklisting is ominous -- 55 tracks -- 3 CD set! 35 songs by Nina and also included are a sprinkling of Billie, Etta, Ella, Dinah, Sarah, Ruth (Brown) – no Carmen. If anyone is so bold as to buy this, please let me know how you like it and the quality of the recording. Share some love today.

Nina Simone - Live Video "Revolution" Paris Oympia 1968

Nina Simone Live Video of “Revolution” Never Seen Before Today (by me anyway)!

My Dear Nina Simone on this Happy Friday. I can hardly contain myself and remain in my seat. Every day is a new day sharing treasures, and Nina Simone is the Honorary Jewel of Funk Sanctum Radio, oh and throughout most of my life! I present to you today one of my favorite songs by my all-time favorite artist, Dr. Nina Simone. Your dj just found this video this a.m., searching for Nina Simone “Revolution” which happens to be one of my favorites. I have never seen this footage before and apparently someone has just released previously unreleased Nina footage on YouTube. WOAH!!! Make my day! WOOT! Hey now! Here, I am going to share this with you and help you get your Friday off on the right foot with Nina and me!
